Just had a note from Mantic to say that the digital version of the rules have now had the Merc cards added. The physical cards for these will be part of the second wave.

Rules for them look great Jake! But home come Boomer is size 3?
Size 4, not 3.
As for the reason, well … let’s say that knowing that he always carry several armed grenaded on himself at all times during an operation, who would want to get close to him as his ally ? 😀
That, or maybe he stinks … 😉
He smells really, really bad…
Does his stink prevent him climbing through windows or walking through doorways?
Nope. For those purposes he’s only size 1. The original version of the DZ rules had sections on the mercs, but this got squeezed out of the final version. Boomer’s entry includes a note about this size issue.
Hooray! That is excellent. I am downloading now…
I bought a copy from my FLGS with the limited edition survivor model. Where will I find the rules for him?
They’re due to go up on the Mantic site. Not sure of the exact date yet.

Survivor, the Child of Destiny? What could this mean…
Fantastic, thank you very much 🙂
Loving the digital rules, the additions and quick FAQs and updates. Great way to go about it.
Is there any difference between “Any” and “Anyone”? I’m guessing not.
In what context?
Under “Works For” some say Any and others say Anyone. I’m assuming there isn’t any mechanical difference but I’ve been wrong before.
There’s no difference.
How do Mercs work in Campaign play?
Do they need to be cleared?
Does the cost cover them for just one game or do they join the strike force for good?
the drone Recon comes with does nothing right now. is there any plan to add rules for it?
Speaking of rules updates, do you know when the Campaign rules will be released? I’m keen to know if they will require specific buildings and scenery as I’m planning on glueing my scenery and don’t want to leave myself without the right bits to play the campaign.
If you mean the Nexus Psi campaign then it’s not for a while yet. I’m still working on the best way to define the terrain in the diagrams as requiring people to make a whole table of specific terrain is a bit of a drag. I’m currently thinking that a few key buildings might be defined, but not the whole table. This isn’t set in stone yet though.
Cheers, I’m planning on building things to be fairly modular anyway so probably nothing bigger than a couple of cubes. I should then be able to arrange these to make what ever the campaign requires. All those years of Tetris weren’t wasted after all!
That should work.
