Well that was a very pleasant surprise!
Deadzone went live this afternoon and hit its funding target of $50K in just 33 minutes!
Standing in the office, watching the numbers tick up, was mesmerising. We had a little sweepstake among the staff for how much the total would be on monday morning at 9am and it’s already past my guess and heading fast for more than the top one.
And it’s only been live for two hours.
Wow.
Thanks guys. This is going to be awesome.
congratulations mate nice one.
Congratulations. 🙂
It’s gonna be a great ride. Let’s go!
(All the way to found a Teraton Faction! 😀 )
Seen the other reply. So rebs it is. Good. 😀
Good work! Now, solo rules please, or at least some AI so we can play coop!
Working on that.
I was watching the numbers too after receiving the email from Mantic.
Congratulations Jake, you must be very pleased. Looking forward to learning more about the game.
What I really like about this is the possibilities is gives us for building a community around the game from the day of launch, with all the cool connotations that has. It worked very well for DreadBall, and though an SF skirmish is always going to be avery different beast, one can dream of tournaments, mods and so on 😉
Wow well done.
So nice so.. shiny.. at least there is some good news that more painting should not be in hand until Dec.
It will be interesting to see how you handle upgrades. Always fun to see the master at work. 😉
I really dont know which one to pledge for….
looks awesome jake.
It always takes me ages to decide when I pledge for stuff.
The one ‘downer’ – restic models 😦 Though I hope it goes massive and we get some plastics instead. Excellent move on the boardgame edition though.
I need to spend some time messing about with the restic figures that Mantic already make and see what the problems are. I’d rather have hard plastic figures too, but the step up in cost is monumental.
I quite like Resitic. It holds detail well and is very easy to glue because it’s so light. It has a tendency to warp, but if you put it in some hot water it can be reshaped very easily.
I and others have had models revert to the previous shape (not warped to start with, used hot water to reposition arms) after the hot water treatment…
Obviously harder to glue than hard plastics but easier than metals.
Disagree over models detail – it could be sculpts, it could be material but my dreadball models often suffer from ‘melted’ details and the flash is not fun to remove. I note Mantic seem to have picked up on this and have said they are talking to the factory to work on the flash issue.
But really there re better materials out there with similar properties. Maybe they can crack it but currently not keen.
Looks like this is something I could really get into, and that your going to need a new stretch goal in the next 10-15mins cause your about to smash 125k….
I have a million and 1 questions on my mind, but I will stick to the most pressing, do you have expansions in conceptual stages that will be later pledge goals, covering more factions? vehicles? Mechs & Gribbly Monsters.
Thanks Crimsonsun
There are loads of extra areas I’d like to explore including more factions, campaign and big battle rules, solo/AI systems, neutral models and so on. Mantic have mentioned an array of extra models they’d like to do, and I’m keen to make up some more aliens 🙂
That is pretty much what I expected and was looking to hear! Congratulations on another kickstarter campaign that has met with outstanding results Mins after being launched! I have already claimed an early bird, but will wait a few weeks to see whats what before considering if I can afford anything else.
Crimsonsun
Thanks Crimson. If you wait a few weeks I think you’ll find that your pledge is worth a bucket load more figures and scenery. But then there might also be some cool additions to look at as well. You never know 😉
Congrats! Of the aliens we’ve already seen I’d love Teratons and Nameless factions – plus some new ones.
That’ll mostly be those pesky Rebs and their alien cuddlin’ ways.
You’re welcome.
Trending towards $3.5 million according to the notoriously unreliable Kicktraq. Anything less would be a disappointment now 😉
That would be very nice. However, KT is, as you say, notoriously unreliable when it comes to predictions.
Yeah we need to give it a week to get a much better estimate really.
The only time KT is reliable is after the campaign has ended lol
