I went into the Mantic office at lunch time to watch the KS go live along with the assembled staff. Once again, thanks to the amazing support of you lot it very quickly reached its initial funding goal, which is both very cheering and a touch scary all at once 😉

A testament to your fine work!
Nice of you to say 🙂 Mostly though, a testament to the many hours of hard work put in by the Mantic team behind the scenes. I just make stuff up 😉
This one was being promoted as having NO RULES. What are you going to do with your time off? 😉
Yeah, well you don’t believe everything you read, do you?
I suspect when this campaign is over it’ll have created a lot of extra work for you Jake!
That’s what usually happens 🙂
I love the original Dreadball and have jumped in on Extreme as well. Almost 75% of all the miniature games I’ve bought in the past year are Mantic…actually the rules are all for your games Jake. So you must be doing something right.
🙂
Honestly I was planning on skipping this on Kick Starter and picking a few bits up when it gets a retail release but I have been roped in, not simply because I have been wanting a more violent version of Dread ball ( Or at least more skills and abilities for killing players :p) but mainly due to who ever has designed the kickstarter page & Video. It looks cracking, Mantics best yet by miles.
I am not going to go crazy with this one though, I am going in for the Sweet Spot and no more anything else I wish to add will be done so via surveys later on. A quick question if I may Jake?
The Free agents in DB Xtreme (Specifically – the robots, Pusk Rampager, Nameless Bloodsucker, Vlorox Spinpede, the new Jelly Fish & the Avaran Treebeast) look like they would make great generic mercenaries or creatures for a bestiary in Dead Zone – Any plans for such to be done?
Btw Congrats on another successful project. Crimsonsun
Thanks Crimson. Happy to have you aboard (again!) 🙂
The chaps at Mantic do keep improving on their presentation and I agree that this one looks especially nice. I hadn’t seen the video before it went live and I was impressed too.
In terms of extra killage in DBX, you won’t be disappointed. You’ll find that there’s plenty of opportunities for someone with that sort of focus. Just play the Convicts, not the Asterians (they actually try to score) 🙂
All the stuff that was in the DZ KS has been written, or very nearly so. Just got some last bits of the AI/solo to polish. However, that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to come back and revisit it again, and these sorts of wacky looking alien are really easy to see in the game. I’m sure most or all of them will turn up in due course. I also have some more experimental rules to punt out there and see what folk make of them. These aren’t in any official publication yet and may never be. Still working on it though.
Sounds very interesting indeed!
Thanks for the reply and I look forward to seeing how the Kick Starter develops, I tend to drift away from Kickstarters and come back near the end to catch up with what is happening otherwise I find they can swallow your free time completely and I have many more effective ways to spend my time online!
