Why So Serious?

I would like to share something with you. It’s a text, though you needn’t worry – I won’t be boring you with lots. This just struck a note.

It said:

Oi, Quirkworthy pull your finger out and update that blog. I don’t care if you’re busy I need something interesting to read on the toilet! đŸ˜‰

Which put me in my place (the smallest room).

Well almost everything I’ve been working on for the last few months is still under a shroud of secrecy so that’s a little tricky. However, the rumours have begun to float around the net, thanks to some blabbermouthed traders. Luckily for our plan, there was little for them to leak save a few names, and it has amused me as much as it has annoyed to see the sharks condemn the entire project already on the basis of a crumb or two of fact and a small mountain of (incorrect) supposition.

All I have to say on the topic at present is that it reminds me of an old Bob Dylan lyric:

Something is happening, but you don’t know what it is…

I thought I knew something was happening then drove all the way to Nottingham on Saturday to find out it wasn’t lol

Looking forward to it whatever it is, maybe some futuristic sport game? Anticipation and waiting is good for the soul.

  3. They condemn good games and hype bad games… what´s so new about it ;).

A set of fantasy rules perhaps…

    • Quirkworthy says:

Well I have done a set of fantasy tabletop rules, but they were finished well over a year ago. So yes, they should be out very soon, but no that’s not been keeping me especially busy of late.

I am very much looking forward to them coming out though, as I’ve been wanting to talk about them for ages… not to mention getting some games in.

I hope it’s more of an army/unit based set than a warhamster-esque skirmish – Not that there is anything wrong with that, just wanting an army set at the moment đŸ˜€

        • Quirkworthy says:

It is an army game, though having said that the model count is intentionally low as I think that is a big barrier to a lot of people playing (which is bad). But yes, you play as an army, and are more likely to win if you think of it in those term rather than in individual units.

While I have missed seeing new posts on your blog I have been insanely busy this year so it has been easy to to speculate that you might have the same problem. I am a fan of your work and it will be nice to hear about your current efforts when the time comes. I have been actively hoping that a DKH book is part of your current workload. I have a project that I want to do clearly defined now all I need is the time to get started on it.

    • Quirkworthy says:

Thanks Don, always nice to hear from you. DKH has been a little squeezed out of late, though I was pitching some ideas the other day and have a couple of thoughts for interim projects if I have a few moments spare.

      Far from forgotten.

  7. That´s dreadworthy…

I gotta say that I’m super-impressed on the read-through. If it plays at all like it feels it should, it’s gonna rock.
